Proco Products, Inc. is the global leader in the design and supply of expansion joints for piping/ducting systems. For over 30 years, Proco has prided themselves on offering the most complete line of products to suit a variety of applications. Some of these products include rubber and molded PTFE expansion joints, braided flexible hose assemblies and low torque sealing gaskets.
Also available from Proco Products, Inc. are the Series 700 ProFlex® rubber duckbill check valves. These valves are commonly used in the water and sewage industry. Rubber check valves are a cost effective way to control back pressures from sewage treatment plants, outfalls and tidal operations. All Proco check valves are manufactured completely of barnacle resistant rubber with a top quality fungicide.
Proco is involved in several technical and trade organizations, such as the FSA (Fluid Sealing Association - Rubber Expansion Joint Division and Non-Metallic Ducting Expansion Joint Division). One of Proco’s own, Rob Coffee, VP of Sales & Marketing, is a part of the FSA Board of Directors and serves on technical committees to ensure its continued development of proper expansion joint design for industries served. Other associations that Proco is proud to be a member of are NAHAD (National Association of Hose and Accessory Distributors), WEF (Water Environment Federation), AWWA (American Water Works Association), IDCO (Industrial Distributor Co-op) and the Cooling Tower Institute.
Proco Products, Inc. operates worldwide through a global agent and distribution network providing a wide range of products and services. This allows them to service the customer during all phases of a project regardless of location. Proco’s main goal is to provide superior service to the demanding marketplace. Quality and service will always be Proco’s highest priority.
Backflow, the undesirable reversal of the flow of water in a pipeline system, was a problem that was plaguing the City of Zalec in Slovenia. This was a long term ordeal that presented itself along the Savinja River and prompted the city to take action towards a solution.
In the early 2013, the City of Zalec approached Nivo Eko, d.o.o. to help solve this problem. Nivo Eko is a well-recognized company known as the leader in flow barriers, head walls, drainage solutions and backflow prevention. The company’s Engineering Director, Marko Zibret, made it his mission to study and purchase a variety of backflow preventers, in particular, check valves. After much time and money spent, he decided the best choice would be the duckbill style check valve due to its long life and maintenance free design. Once this decision was made, the next step was to purchase 5 check valves from various companies situated in North America as well as China.
Once these valves were purchased, the next step was to have these valves tested. Nivo Eko designed and manufactured a unique testing apparatus that allowed each valve to be tested under flow conditions, head pressures and continual back pressures. This testing was necessary because the valves being installed for the City of Zalec would be subject to each of these conditions. After many hours of testing each check valve for both functionality and durability, it was decided the best design was the ProFlex Duckbill Check Valve manufactured by Proco Products, Inc. in Stockton, CA.
Proco is known as a world leader in the engineering design and supply of rubber expansion joints, penetration seals as well as the duckbill check valves. Since the start of this project, Proco has supplied Nivo Eko, d.o.o. with over 150 check valves ranging in size from 150mm (6”) to 1800mm (78”) that have been installed not only for the City of Zalec, but for other municipalities across Europe to combat the issues surrounding backflow.
